Sam Covington
Secretary
Sam Covington was born a Tory, raised a Tory and voted Tory until 2016 when she realised the error of her ways and voted to Remain.
At the age of 68 she retired that same year and moved from London to Amesbury to be closer to her daughter and her family. She has two granddaughters and now a great grandson, and is a terrible cook.
Appalled at the outcome of the Referendum she became far more politically aware and after a few years spent hovering outside the tent she became an activist in the Liberal Democrats. The first campaign she really worked on was Alan Hagger’s success in the 2023 by-election for Amesbury West’s seat on Amesbury Town Council, which was swiftly followed by Andrew Lord’s in Amesbury West, and Laura Knight’s in Amesbury South. She also worked on Jacqui Lord’s uncontested, and consequently successful, bid for Amesbury East.
When Amesbury was moved from the Salisbury constituency to East Wiltshire’s she joined the Exec as a campaigner and helped with Caroline Sadler’s successful campaign in Marlborough. She continues volunteering in Salisbury’s campaign offices.
