Laura Knight
Amesbury Town Councillor
Laura was born in Dundee but has lived all over the UK and in Holland where she took her IGCSEs and International Baccalaureate. Laura came to settle in Amesbury in 2001 as her father's final tour was at Boscombe Down. Laura has a Politics, Economics and Social Policy Degree and is also a qualified Yoga teacher. She has three boys, who have all grown up in Amesbury, One is doing his Law Masters following a law degree and is working for a local solicitors, One is doing his apprenticeship with the MOD in Aerospace and the youngest is still at school. All have played for local football teams and Laura is keen to work locally to encourage the Wilts FA to provide new facilities for the area.
Laura worked for Alabaré as their community engagement officer, for four years working with local community groups to raise awareness and vital funds for their work with homelessness. Laura has abseiled, skydived, wing-walked, climbed Snowdon and taken part in the virtual London Marathon. Laura now works in a local specialist school for pupils with dyslexia and associated learning disabilities teaching yoga, mindfulness, mediations as an occupational therapy assistant.
Living in Bugdens Close, Laura and her partner have 6 children between them, 4 grandchildren, 2 dogs- an aging golden retriever and a silly sausage dog and two cats.
